Prof Bala has published over 60 peer reviewed articles in 17 internationally accredited journals. He has also supervised over 30 postgraduate students, a majority of whom have graduated. His main research thrust focuses on the application of green chemistry principles to homogeneous catalysis especially the use of earth abundant first row transition metals for the activation of small molecules.
