The international conference season 2016 has come to a close and again researchers from the Synthesis Gas Programme have featured prominently at various international events. Anna Petersen (PhD student UCT) and Dr Nico Fischer (UCT) both gave oral presentations at the 11th Natural Gas Conversion Symposium held in Tromsø, Norway, with Prof Michael Claeys (UCT) giving a keynote lecture on the “Stability of CO hydrogenation catalysts”. Three posters from different Synthesis Gas projects were also presented at the event.
At the International Congress on Catalysis (16th ICC) in Beijing, China, c*change’s Synthesis Gas programme was represented with 9 posters by researches based at UCT and WITS. In addition, Prof Michael Claeys was invited by the organizing committee to give a lecture on “Characterisation of catalysts at working conditions using a novel magnetometer”. He was also invited to present and participate at a one-day SynCat Symposium at SynCat@Beijing and he gave a plenary talk at the post ICC conference on Syngas and Methanol Conversion hosted by the Institute of Coal Chemistry and Synfuels China.
